The Eindhoven School: a forgotten avant-garde

The exhibition illustrates the influence of the Eindhoven School through text, photos, drawings, publications and models. Furthermore, the influence of Geert Bekaert, Gerard van Zeijl and Joost Meuwissen – teachers part of the chair of Architecture History and Theory – on the shaping of the students at TU Eindhoven, as well as the dissemination of their work (and method) by means of publications and exhibitions, sometimes under the banner of ‘The Eindhoven School’. The research and educational activities by the chair of Architecture History and Theory contributed to the critical stance of students and a certain historical and theoretical depth in student projects at the time. Also, a number of early projects of architects as Wim van den Bergh, Ralph Brodrück, Jos van Eldonk, Johan Kappetein, Bert Staal, Rudy Uytenhaak, Gert-Jan Willemse and René van Zuuk are presented.
