A+ Lecture by Ensamble Studio

Lezing / Debat

Ensamble Studio was founded in 2000 by architects Débora Mesa and Antón García-Abril. Their way of working is innovative, they experiment with construction techniques and propose new architectural typologies.

Some of their most notable projects include Casa Hemeroscopium (Madrid, 2008) and more recently Can Terra (Menorca, 2018) and The Tent (Costa de Morte, 2020). They have created a new research and production centre in Madrid, Ensamble Fabrica, to support the ambitious goal of optimising the quality of architecture while making it more affordable.

Ensamble Studio has received numerous international recognitions, including the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in 2022 and the RIBA Charles Jencks Award 2019.

Debora Mesa is an architecture critic at Harvard GSD and was previously a critic at Pratt GAUD (2021-2022), held the Ventulett Chair in Architectural Design at Georgia Tech (2018-2022), and was a researcher at MIT (2013-2018), where she co-founded a prefabrication prototyping laboratory (2012).
