Rotor. Entangled Matter
Tentoonstelling
With this exhibition, Brussels-based collective Rotor examines the way building and raw materials circulate and sheds a critical light on their own position in the construction economy.
Rotor has been known for its work on ecology, architecture and the reuse of materials for almost 20 years. With a broad spectrum of projects (interior design, research, consultancy, exhibitions, publications, the development of a cooperative association, etc.), they constantly strive to investigate and question the organisation of material flows.
As part of this exhibition, the filmmaking duo Bêka & Lemoine will present a series of new, never-before-seen short films shot at mining, production and material processing sites. The locations were selected by Rotor and testify to the stratification (or complexity) of these practices. The short films engage with the collective’s reflections on the challenges facing the construction industry, particularly in relation to the environmental crisis.
Rotor has won several awards, including the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture presented by the LOCUS Foundation under the supervision of UNESCO and the Ultima for Architecture & Accessible Arts in 2023.
