The first theatre of Amsterdam De Kleine Komedie is 18th century theatre with a long history of transformation. The iconic theatre hall – known for its atmosphere, is countered with a new public foyer, in which the theatre is a white shiny box, a gesture on urban scale, recognizable from the outside.
The mixture of monumental and modern elements tells the story of the old, but revived theatre.
The project is designed by denieuwegeneratie, which transformed into Oomen Ontwerpt and krft in 2012.
